Last Monday, on August 18th 2025 the new music game “Tune Perfect” was officially released. The title targets fans of singing and rhythm games and is now available completely free of charge. The game is open source and can be downloaded directly from the official website at tuneperfect.org. Versions are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
“Tune Perfect” is a so-called “sing game” – a genre in which players perform popular songs and are rated based on pitch, rhythm, and vocal expression. In case of this game players have to get songs on their own discretion according to local copyright law. Thanks to its open-source structure, users can completely build their own custom song collection.

Key features
A key feature of “Tune Perfect” is the inbuilt pitch detection which offers precise analysis of the singing performance. Furthermore the game was built with web technologies and provides a modern UI optimized for gamepad and keyboard. In addition to solo play, the game offers a party mode and online accounts to join a session and customize the profile.
The first public release of “Tune Perfect” already includes a wide range of features:
- Full support for the official UltraStar TXT specification, including the new
#INSTRUMENTAL
tag - Accurate pitch detection for real-time vocal analysis
- Golden Notes and Rap Notes, adding variety and challenge to the gameplay
- Difficulty selection, allowing players to adjust the experience to their skill level
- Online accounts for joining public or private games and saving high scores (local accounts can also be created and added to lobbies)
- Versus Party Mode, inspired by similar features in Vocaluxe, for casual competitive play
- Cross-platform compatibility, supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux
- XInput gamepad support, offering alternative input options for navigating menus
- Multilingual interface, currently supporting English and German

Made in Germany
Behind the title is a one man team from Berlin, Germany: Solo-dev Nico. He created the game initially as a hobby project but now after two years Nico wants to share it with others who might enjoy it too. Therefore the source code is available via GitHub “Tune Perfect” repository under MIT license.
Open Music Games Organization sees “Tune Perfect” as a promising continuation of the sing game genre. The transparent and community-driven development model reflects a growing trend in gaming toward openness and collaboration. However the game still needs a proper team to remain on the long run and to solve the song licensing problem.
First reactions
Initial player feedback has been largely positive. Users praise the game’s clean interface, robust feature set, and strong community potential. Some minor bugs have been reported — particularly regarding Linux stability and performance on older systems — but Solo-Dev Nico is actively addressing issues.
